The new superintendent of the Los Angeles school district, John Deasy, is calling for free health, dental, and eye care for any students in need.  Considering this is the 2nd largest school district in the nation, it’s huge news and a big step for a student health insurance quote.  According to the article “New LA Schools Leader John Deasy Calls for Student Healthcare” by Howard Blume on LaTimes.com, Deasy has no clear plan to pay for these benefits but he see this as a necessary benefit for students.

Deasy did say in an interview that he’s considering leveraging the district’s contracts with companies that offer health insurance to employees in addition to raising the profile of the issue to encourage philanthropic donations.

John Deasy takes charge of the LA Unified school district in mid-April and has a lot to take on as the new leader.  There is a

If you were to ask anyone in New York City if they pay a lot for auto insurance they most likely would tell you they do.  It makes sense since it’s the largest city in the US with common congested traffic and risky cab drivers.  But surprisingly, New York does not even show up on the top 20 states with high auto insurance rates.  According to the article “The States With the Highest & Lowest Auto Insurance Rates” by James Zol on TheAutoInsurance.com, Louisiana takes the top spot as the state with the highest auto insurance rates.

Based on a study completed by Insure.com, Louisiana has the highest auto insurance rates primarily due to their law structure.  According to MSN News, Louisiana allows for some of the highest out of court settlements in the US.  Because

Chicago Needs Low Cost Dental Care

Feb 01, 2011 | by Stephen Murphy | No Comments »

Thousands of Cook County residents on Medicaid or uninsured face the tough challenge of paying for expensive dental care in the Chicago area.  According to the article “Need for Low-Cost Dental Care in Cook County Far Exceeds Services” by Monifa Thomas on SunTimes.com, The Bridge to Healthy Smiles campaign has pushed for access to quality dental care in Illinois but there still is only one dental clinic in Cook County for every 15,700 children who are using public aid.  This is a huge challenge for those who struggle to afford health insurance.

An audit was recently completed to access the reality of the health care for dental services and it proves to be a huge problem.  The Cook County Department of Health has only 4 suburban dental clinics and this is half as many as there were in 2005.  Becau

Jan 28, 2011 | by Christopher Allen | No Comments »

The Freeman Auto Report found that new car sales in the greater Austin area increased 10% in 2010 compared to 2009.  This is still far off pace from new car sales in 2007, when over 100,000 new cars were sold in Austin according to the article “Texas New Car Sales Increase in 2010″ on USInsuranceonline.com.

General Manager of Jaguar Land Rover Austin said in an interview with the Austin American-Statesman that this is a good sign and that 2011 will be a good year for everyone.  The economy is slowly picking up and this is definitely affecting new car sales as well as car insurance quotes in Texas.

The Texas Department of Insurance says the market has recently added 9 new providers which could make prices more competitive for Texas auto insurance rates.  This
