It a familiar story, we keep telling ourselves ‘just a few more months or a few more miles then I’ll get a new van’. It’s understandable that you want your van to last as long as possible, you want to make sure that you are getting good value for money and that extra expensive of a new van never comes at the right time. You may find that the time to change is closer than you think. So what are the signs that you should look for to indicate getting a new van?

Does it start in the mornings ok with out any trouble? The days of bad weather has been a real test to see if your work van is up to the challenge every morning. If it has had trouble starting then it might be time for a change. You don’t want to end up out on a job and find that they van won’t start and then you become stranded. A van that needs a jump start may only need a new battery or even a change of spark/ glow plugs so make sure you check this out before you march right off to the garage.

A van that burns a lot of oil is a sign that it is on it’s way out. If you find that you have been putting oil in your van as often as you are putting fuel in there you might find that the engine is on it’s way out. There s only so much you can do to a van to keep it going and if it has gotten to this stage then you might find that the end is near.

Things breaking are not only a good sign of wear and tear but a sign that the van is getting older. Such things like door handles, the locking mechanisms on the doors themselves, the boot, and electrical faults usually happen over time to older cars, this can make gaining access into the car a difficult matter.

Body work is noticeably one of the main things to suffer. With all of the driving around that you do in all of the various weather conditions as well as the range of places that you need to take the van it’s only a matter of time before the van starts to show knocks, dents and rust. Who would want a van that reflects their business in this way?

A clean new van will show people that you are a clean a tidy workman. A tired van with rust and dents in that has trouble starting will allow people to think that your work is below pay and you use only the cheapest of materials.
