Auto Hauling 101 – What You Need to Know Before They Drive Off With Your Car

Auto hauling is the act of transporting a vehicle from one location to another location using a flatbed truck or a similar vehicle. Auto hauling is done in the following circumstances:

o When you want to move and you don’t want your car to drive five hundred miles.

o When you want to move out of the country and your car needs to be transported to the loading bay of an airport.

o When your car is damaged (because you crashed it to a tree) and it needs to be brought to a repair shop.

These three situations can cause anxiety for a lot of people. Your beloved car is going to be loaded and strapped down for transport- technically; you would be turning over the safety of your property to an auto hauling company. What makes this kind of contract between you and the auto hauling company safe? What makes the whole arrangement dangerous, in a way?

Pros

o You won’t have to drive yourself- so you save on fuel and you save your own energy. Driving for five hours to a loading bay can be quite taxing.

o If you find a good company, your car is relatively safe. Theoretically, your would be insured (if the company would be supporting that kind of liability)

o You’ll have more time to do important things when you sign up for an auto hauling service.

Cons

o Accidents can, and will happen in certain circumstances. There is no real assurance that your vehicle would be a hundred percent safe the whole way.

o If you go for the inexpensive auto haulers, chances are, the staff would not be that “kind” to your car when they finally come to get it.

o Auto haulers are mostly expensive services. Be sure that you have everything covered financially before you call one.

The best way to avoid the negative scenarios is still to do research: towing companies can be traced based on their performance in the past few years. If you don’t know where to look around in your own town, try to find help online.

Chances are big that reputable towing companies would appear in forums. Check these forums for reviews, or post your own query yourself. There’s a fifty percent chance that there would be a ready response to your query within a day.
